College and Weight Gain

Filed under: Trivia — admin @ 6:16 am

Did you know that the stats show that most college students, within their first year, will gain an average of 15 pounds? It’s called the freshman 15. Me on the otherm hand will probably have to deal with the freshman -15. I can’t seem to gain any weight no matter how hard I try. Instead, whar do I do? I lose weight!!! This is so not cool.

Obesity and Lap Band

Filed under: General Happenings In My Life — admin @ 5:04 pm

Are you one of the many thousand Americans who are obese and cannot lose weight no matter how much you diet? Well, JourneyLite has the answer. JourneyLite is a nation wide network of people who preform a special kind of surgery called LapBand surgery. During the procedure, the surgeon will use a laser to attach the lap band to you. The lap band makes your stomach smaller and regulates how much you can eat. It will make you feel fuller faster, thus allowing you to eat less and lose weight. Really cool.

Another Day In My Ever Present Bored State

Filed under: General Happenings In My Life — admin @ 2:23 pm

I leave for college on Saturday, and I am looking forward to it. The fact that I’m looking forward to it, however, has made the day crawl by. Usually I can sleep most of the day, and not have to do anything. Since I’m preparing for school now, I make myself get up at 7:00 in the morning, and not allow myself to go back to sleep. The reason for that madness is because I have to get up at 7:00 while I’m at college. One good thing about me moving away is that I just got a brand-new laptop for my own personal use. actually, it’s supposed to be for school work. Hmmmmm……interesting concept. I’ll consider it. School work….I’ve never heard of it before. But then again, that’s what I get for graduating from Highland High. I can’t count either. I have, however, become very good in the art of movie watching. I wonder if I could major in that in college?

Alzeheimer’s Memory Walk

Filed under: General Happenings In My Life — admin @ 5:26 pm

The Alzeheimer’s Association is the largest ever founded to fight Alzeheimer’s. They have raised more money than any other. The Alzeheimer’s Memory Walk was founded to help combat the dreadful disease. It calls for volunteers of all ages. Why be just a volunteer when you can be a Team Captain? You don’t actually have to walk if you’re a team captain. Your job would be to rally the troops and help with awareness of Alzeheimer’s. If you team up with your friends and family, they’ll be more willing to help you and give donations. I would recommend being a team captain if you can’t actually participate in the walk, that way, you’ll still be helping, despite any limitations you may have. Alzeheimer’s is a terrible disease, one that has no cure. That is why the Memory Walk was founded, to help raise money to find a cure. If people don’t know about a disease, how can they help? I would honestly say that this cause is well worth the effort. There are many walk sites, so even if you live out in the middle of nowhere, I’m sure that there is a walk somewhere near you. Don’t wait. Just click on one of these links to get started. You’ll be glad you did, and you’ll never regret it.

A Married Pope?

Filed under: Trivia — admin @ 4:55 pm

Adrian II (867-872) was the last married Catholic pope. He was actually married before he became pope, but refused to adopt celibacy or give up his wife when he ascended the papal throne.

I didn’t realize that there were ever any married popes. I didn’t think that that was allowed in the Catholic church. I didn’t think that you could even become pope if you had been married before. Guess I have a lot to learn.

Web Design- something I didn’t learn in school

Filed under: General Happenings In My Life — admin @ 11:26 am

I was wandering around on the Internet the other day when I came across this site that was titled Dev3 - Web Design Services. Intrigued, I looked further. I took Web Design in high school, and they thought us how to sit and pay attention to a movie. Big deal. I was actually kind of interesting in learning about Web Design, I may need it someday. This website that I happened across tells all about how to design your own webpage, how to edit it, how to customize it, and even how to create search engine optimization. These people work for very low prices when teaching you actual Web Design, and they’ve done several major projects. Really cool stuff.

Trivia

In 1892, Italy raised the minimum age for marriage for girls - to 12.

Wow. Imagine being married at twelve! When I was twelve, I wasn’t even thinking about marriage!! I have a twelve year old sister, and there is no way she is ready for marriage. She still thinks boys are “nasty” and that you can catch cooties from them. Someday, she’ll learn. Someday.

eMortgages

Filed under: General Happenings In My Life — admin @ 7:52 am

In the old days, when my mother was young, you had to go to the bank and
sit down and talk to somebody about getting a mortgage for a house or a
car or whatever. Not anymore. Now a days, you can do all the paperwork
and everything on the web. Don’t have time to go to a bank? Just take
out an eMortgage. It takes off all
the hassle of all the paperwork and having to worry about losing
aforementioned paperwork, and it’s also faster. Cool, isn’t it?

Trivia

Over 2500 left handed people are killed each year from using products
made for right handed people.

Now that I can believe. I am left-handed, and very definately agree that
the world is geared towards left-handed people. I have often muttered in
frustration about having to write in a notebook with the spirals poking
into my hand and wrist while I’m trying to write. Everytime I write
anything, I get a smudge of ink across my pinkie finger area, and it’s
from having to drag my hand back across whatever it is I’ve just
written, while trying to write something else. It’s really a pain.

Mortgages, anyone?

Filed under: General Happenings In My Life — admin @ 6:18 pm

Many people believe that in order to get the dream home they’ve been
wanting, it is necessary to take out a mortgage. Now there’s a site that
can help advise you about that. I had a friend move here from Colorado,
and all he could talk about was how much less expensive it was here in
Arkansas than it was in Colorado. He said that his family had to deal
with
Colorado Mortgages
, and that he was really glad that they didn’t
have to deal with them here. However, he really liked his house in
Colorado, thanks to the mortgage, but that’s another story.
